This assembly represents the second version of the desi chickpea ICC4958 genome. It consists entirely of short-read sequencing data including whole genome shotgun and paired end libraries using next generation sequencing platforms. It represents a 2.7-fold increase in the length of pseudomolecules and a substantial reduction in sequence gaps as compared to the previous assembly of ICC4958 (Parween et al., 2015).

This assembly includes the sequence reads reported in the previous draft assembly (Jain et al., the Plant Journal, 2013 74;5:715), as well as, additional 20kb insert mate pair libraries (total bases: 570,444,270bp and 439,769,976bp).
