Minerals and trace elements: Lens cultivars over 10 site-years
Overview
Quantify the mineral and trace element profiles for a panel of elite Lentil cultivars.
This study characterizes nutritional and food functionality characteristics of lentil to understand how to maintain or enhance these when using wide crosses. Through a 10 site-years multi-environmental study, the minerals and trace elements content of 34 elite Canadian lentil cultivars and lines were determined. This was the first study quantifying all nutritionally important minerals and trace elements of this set of germplasm.

Associated Datasets
Mineral Concentration (XLSX, TSV)
This dataset includes the raw concentration of 16 minerals in whole and dehulled seeds of 34 lentil genotypes evaluated across 10 site-years in Saskatchewan during 2017-2018. These are the concentrations per plot which were averaged to generate the "Mean Mineral Concentration per genotype (S4)" dataset below.
Mean Mineral Concentration per genotype (XLSX, TSV)
This dataset includes the concentration of 16 minerals in whole and dehulled seeds of 34 lentil genotypes evaluated across 10 site-years in Saskatchewan during 2017-2018. These values represent the average concentration for each genotype obtained by averaging results across site-years. These data are also includes as supplementary material S4 in the linked publication. In this file, "WS" refers to whole seeds and "DS" refers to dehulled seeds and the units for these measurements are indicated in row 4 for each mineral.
Mean Yield in each site-year (XLSX, TSV)
This dataset provides the yield of the 34 genotypes evaluated for their concentration of 16 minerals grown across 10 site-years in Saskatchewan during 2017-18. Specifically, each site-year where the trial was grown is indicated as a column in this file and each genotype is a row. The value of any cell is then the mean yield value for that genotype in that site-year. These data are also included as supplementary material S5 in the linked publication.
