This accession was developed from a single seed of the cultivated variety, CDC Redwing, for the Application of Genomic Innovation in the Lentil Economy (AGILE) project. As such it was surveyed in diverse environments for many phenomic traits and it continues to be used in experiments as part of the AGILE Lentil Diversity Panel. As you can see below, there are genotypic resources available to compliment the phenotypic data for association mapping.

The source cultivated variety was one of the first widely grown red lentil varieties in Canada and is included as a benchmark for many subsequent variety registration applications and publications (e.g CDC Robin). It has a small red cotyledon seed and is adpated to the Canadian environment with a farily early flowering time.
