Carotenoid Concentrations: LR-68 2018 using LCMS

Overview
Objectives

Measure the carotenoid concentration in a RIL population segregating for cotyledon colour to determine if there is a link between red-yellow cotyledon colour and carotenoid concentration.

Experiment Summary

Seeds from a field trial at Sutherland in 2018 for an interspecific recombinant inbred line population of 120 RILs (LR-68, F8-derived) were used for carotenoid quantification. All carotenoid concentrations were determined using liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) and recorded in micro grams per gram (µg/g). In addition, the cotyledon color of dehulled seeds was quantified using a Nix Spectro 2 device and data decomposed into CIELAB L* a* b* colour space values.

LR-68 Carotenoid Dataset (XLSX, TSV)

This dataset consists of the concentration (ug compound per gram dry weight of initial powdered sample) for four carotenoids, as well as the total carotenoid. Samples consist of 1 site-year and 117 recombinant inbred lines.
