RNAseq to investigate carotenoid biosynthesis: developing seeds from LR-68 parents across 3 DPA in 2019

Overview
Experiment Summary

To investigate gene expression associated with carotenoid biosynthesis and accumulation, and the genetic basis of red and yellow cotyledon colour in lentil, RNA sequencing was carried out on developing seeds of the parents of the LR-68 population: L. orientalis IG 72643 (red cotyledon, high carotenoid content), L. culinaris 3339-3 (yellow cotyledon, low carotenoid content). RNA was extracted from the developing seeds where carotenoid and other pigments production was presumed ongoing at 10, 20 and 30 days post anthesis (DPA) with 4 biological replicates of each genotype, resulting in 24 samples total.
